THE BLOODY TINTH
CARROLL MAIN GYM STAGE
Friday, 3/7: INCLUDED IN FISH FRY ADMISSION
In the summer of 2008, siblings drummer Michael Sams and violinist Rachel Schott, after a pint or two, clinked glasses and vowed to collaborate on an Irish-influenced American rock band. Soon their mutual friend Craig introduced them to Ryan Gorsuch, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Ryan introduced Michael and Rachel to multi-instrumentalist Joe Kendall - his friend and roommate since high school. A package deal! A quick search at the library revealed that the nickname of Cincinnati's all-Irish regiment in the Civil War had been "The Bloody Tinth". Bassist Nick Lorenz joined the Tinth later that year - another stroke of unbelievable luck - and the line-up was complete. Bookings at pubs and festivals in all the major cities of Ohio soon followed, and an invitation to perform at the Ancient Order of Hibernians National Conference in 2009 launched the band into the larger world of vibrantly performed, passionately written Celtic-influenced American music. Later in 2024, they added Sean Halloran to help with lead vocals and acoustic guitar duties.
