Welcome from the Deans

Led by Deans Marcy (Hemmert) Hughes '83 and Molly Stanifer, our House is one of gratitude.  Mrs. Hughes was born a Carroll Patriot; daughter of 53 year veteran teacher Mr. Jim Hemmert, she walked the halls of Carroll long before her attendance here as a student or teacher.  Mrs. Hughes has taught English for over 30 years.  She is in her 20th year of teaching in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, and she has spent 16 of those years at Carroll; she is also an adjunct faculty member at Sinclair Community College, where she has taught for 17 years.  She serves many roles at Carroll, including advisor for Write-On, our student writing publication.  “I chose to be a House Dean because I believe in the House System. Carroll is already a great place.  Now, we have an opportunity to enhance our students’ education; to provide more leadership opportunity and “connectedness” for our students, faculty, and staff.  We are growing leaders and building community,” Hughes says.

Molly Stanifer started teaching at Carroll in the fall of 2017.  She graduated from the University of Dayton in 2017 with a B.S.E. in Secondary Education and a B.A. in English; she has enjoyed starting her teaching career as a Patriot. Along with her position as a Baltimore House Dean, Stanifer is the Boys Varsity Tennis Coach.  "The role of Dean provides the opportunity to grow school leaders and create a network of support for students and teachers alike.  I believe that the House System will create long-lasting friendships and a community of Patriots for life,” Stanifer says.

Together, with the guidance of Bev (Amatuli) Lightner '73, Cecilia Grosselin, Kelly (Sheetz) Becker '82, Marilou Rulli, Janine Casey, Scott Molfenter, Todd Tayloe, Toni (Hemmert) Weitz '86, Katie Nielsen, Jennifer Fernandez, Ted Suchecki, and our senior captains and co-captains, we can do great things. United in Christ, we believe in family, tradition, and leadership. We are Baltimore!
