Jess dedicates herself to her studies with a genuine eagerness to learn. She gives voice to those in need and will continue to change the world with her words of inspiration, kindness, and gratitude. What I admire most about Jess, aside from her determination and drive, is her profound appreciation for education and her inherent understanding that knowledge has the power to move mountains.

What activities do you participate in?

I have participated in the Marching Band, Spanish Club, Freshman Class Council, Key Club, Math Club, and Medical Career Club.

What's your favorite part about being a student at Carroll?

My favorite part of being a Carroll student is being able to see how I am growing and also being able to have a community of teachers that are there to help you when you are in trouble.

How should school help you succeed?

School should help me see my mistakes and learn from those mistakes. It also should help me grow academically so I can help the world in the future.

What's your biggest dream in life?

My dream is to be passionate in what I do, help the world become a better place, and help my family live a good life.

What's a lesson you learned when overcoming a difficult obstacle?

A lesson that I learned when I overcame an obstacle is that when God is trying to help you grow, you should follow through and put as much effort to meet him halfway, because the path we go onto comes from the decisions that God gives us in life.

How do you like spending your free time?

I like to spend free time learning new things, reading, and talking to people who are close to me.

Charlie Williams '26: Student of the Week December 5, 2024

Charlie's calm and kind disposition in class lends to good discussions. Once I found out Charlie was a football team Captain, I knew he could help me with students struggling in my drawing class. Charlie heard me out and said he would discuss things with my drawing student. Since that day, my struggling student has made more effort and has been more communicative. Charlie is not only a great leader and student, but he wants to see his teammates and classmates succeed.  He is happy to step in and help when needed.

What actor would play you in a movie?

Christian Bale

What activities do you participate in?

I am a captain on the football team, I participate in track and field, and I am a student ambassador.

What's your favorite part about being a student at Carroll?

My favorite part about being a Carroll student is making new friends and helping others feel welcome in school and sports.

How should school help you succeed?

School should help me succeed in making social relationships in the real world.

What's your biggest dream in life?

My biggest dream in life is to have a successful career to support my current and future family.

What's a lesson you learned when overcoming a difficult obstacle?

A lesson I learned by overcoming a difficult obstacle is to keep my head up and not to throw in the towel when times get hard.

How do you like spending your free time?

I like to spend my time hanging out with my friends on the weekends by watching football and going out to eat.

I participate in the Carroll Cross Country team and St. Lukes Latte Ministry.

What's your favorite part about being a student at Carroll?

My favorite part of being a Carroll student is that I have all the resources I need there to be a successful person.

How should school help you succeed?

School should help me succeed by building up my knowledge and confidence.

What's your biggest dream in life?

My biggest dream in life is to be a successful, minimalist, peaceful, and virtuous adult.

What's a lesson you learned when overcoming a difficult obstacle?

A lesson I’ve learned when it comes to surmounting difficult obstacles is to be entirely focused on getting the job done to the best of my ability. I ignore all discomfort, distractions, and any predictions of the outcome. It is all about whether or not I give everything in the process.

How do you like spending your free time?

I spend my free time drawing, playing the piano, studying military history, and working out.

Calvin Lachey '25: Student of the Week, September 17, 2024

In my Digital Photography class, Calvin has been the picture of a Carroll Patriot. He is funny and charismatic but also knows how to be professional. He has seen some classmates have trouble with various aspects of my class, and he is always willing to lend a hand and his time to help others succeed.

What activities do you participate in?

During school, I tend to focus on my academics and don't have any extracurriculars currently, but I did greatly enjoy robotics club last year and might even consider joining badminton club this year.

What's your favorite part about being a student at Carroll?

My favorite part of being a Carroll student is the safety I feel inside the building from harm and the friendliness from other students and staff.

What's your biggest dream in life?

I want to have a family and children who I can love and develop into individuals who have the potential to brighten a darkening world.  I don't care for endless wealth or the memory of every world wonder, I simply want to give all of myself to bring those dear to me contentment.

What's a lesson you learned when overcoming a difficult obstacle?

Giving up on trial and error is the main cause of stagnation, and consistency is key to this life.

How do you like spending your free time?

In my free time, I love to experience stories, whether writing my own or reading other people's. My imagination and the escape of immersing myself in other realities is something I adore.
