Welcome from the Director

At Archbishop Carroll High School, we are proud of our excellent academic tradition as well as our athletic programs.  Our goal is to compete at the highest level while fostering sportsmanship and leadership in our student-athletes.  Extracurricular activities provide excellent opportunities to build character.  As we prepare tomorrow's leaders, we hope to take advantage of these moments.

Carroll is a proud member of the Great Catholic League.  The GCL is recognized among the finest leagues in the nation for its accomplishments in athletics, and more importantly, in the classroom.  We are proud to compete against the fine schools in our league and look forward to the challenges of every competition

Boys' cross country wins 2021 regional championship

The Carroll High School Boys' Cross Country runners are Regional Champions for the second time in the last three years and headed to the State Championships for the third year in a row.

Four Patriots earned All Region honors as Jack Agnew '23 was the individual champion along with outstanding races by Seth Tivakaran '23 (6th), Neil Tivakaran '24 (8th), and Logan Arnold '24 (14th).  Nathan Schiffler '23, Andrew Janson '25, and Jude Girtman '25 rounded out the State bound team.


Two members of the girl's team also qualified individually for the State Championship Race -- Ruby Gross '25 (8th) and Sophie Bruhn '24 (9th).  They were joined by Maggie Poor '24, Sarah Ochs '22, Abby Noss '23, Grace Braun '23, and Sydney O'Connor '25 for a strong team showing that just missed qualifying to State with a 5th place finish.  The girls' cross country team has now finished in the top five in the region for three of the last four years.

Sophie and Ruby will race at Fortress Obetz in Columbus at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by the men's team at 1:00.  Good luck runners!

Regional champ Agnew, boys' cross country head to state championships

Carroll High School Boys' Cross Country finished as runners-up the Ohio High School Athletic Association Regional Championships.

The Carroll Cross Country teams competed in the Division II Regional Championships on October 31st at Troy. Lead by individual champion Kevin Agnew '21, the Patriot men finished as Regional Runners-up, only ten points behind champion Waynesville.  There were a total of 13 teams in the race with the top four teams earning a spot in the State Cross Country Championships. This was the 5th time in team history finishing as Regional Runner-Up and 8th time finishing in the top 2 spots. This was also the 15th year out of the last 18 that the men’s team has qualified to the State Championships in Division II. It’s the 16th men’s state qualifying team in Carroll Cross Country history and 22nd overall.

The Patriot men had an outstanding team race with all 7 runners contributing to the team’s overall win.  Agnew's first place finish (15:50) earned him the individual championship for the second year in a row!  Kevin also earned All-Region honors and was an Individual State Qualifier! Kevin is the 3rd Individual Regional Champion in school history (Kevin has won twice and Andrew Trick '09, is the other). Jack Agnew '23 finished in 7th place (16:35) to earn All-Region honors and was an Individual State Qualifier. Rounding out the top 7 were: Drew Maxwell '21 (20th-17:14), Logan Arnold '24 (22nd-17:15), Seth Tivakaran '23 (30th-17:32), Hayden Everding '23 (50th-17:58), and Nathan Schiffler '23 (79th-18:47). The alternates for the Patriots were Michael Duckro '22, Jared Sargent '24, Christian Anguiano '21, Adam Cross '22, and Patrick Sableski '22.

The Carroll women also competed in the Regional Championships and tied for 5th place out of 11 teams. The top 3 teams earned a spot to the State Cross Country Championships, and the Patriots were only 28 points from qualifying with their best team race of the season. They were led by Grace Braun '23 who finished in 15th (20:15) and three spots from being an individual state qualifier! The rest of the top 7 for the ladies were Maggie Poor '24 (21st-20:34), Sarah Ochs '22 (36th-21:13), Sophie Mock '21 (45th-21:26), Nataly Duenas-Diaz '21(55th-21:56), Trinity Raber '21 (70th-22:44), and Madi Werner '21 (77th-23:20). The alternates for Carroll were Abby Noss '23, Hannah Wagner '23, and Nora Sableski '24.

Special shout out to our seniors! This was Kevin's 4th time competing at the Regional Championships and 2nd time qualifying to State. This was Drew’s 3rd time competing at the Regional Championships and 2nd time being on a State qualifying team. Trinity has competed at the Regional Championships all 4 years! This was Nataly, Sophie, and Madi’s first time competing at the Regional Championships. Carroll Cross Country Sweeps Men’s and Women’s GCL Titles

The Carroll Cross Country teams competed in the GCL Championships at Fenwick High School this past Saturday, and the Varsity Men’s and Women’s teams both won to complete the sweep for the Patriots for the 3rd year in a row. The Jr. Varsity Men’s and Women’s teams also both won to complete a sweep of all 4 GCL team titles.

This is only the 2nd time in the 15 years of Carroll being in the GCL that a team has won all 4 races, and the Patriots were the only other ones to accomplish it back in 2009. Head Coach John Agnew was named GCL Coach of the Year for both the men and women.
The Carroll Varsity Women earned the title of CGL Champions with 51 points to finish ahead of 2nd place Badin (68).  This was the 3rd GCL title in a row for the Patriots, and they have finished
1st or 2nd in the GCL 12 out of the last 15 years. It was the 17th League Title in team history for the women.

Carroll had an outstanding effort from all seven runners in the varsity race who all earned All-League Honors. The Patriots had two runners earn 1st Team All-GCL honors: Grace Braun (4th -20:11) and Maggie Poor (7th - 20:55). Sarah Ochs (11th - 21:36) and Nataly Duenas-Diaz (12th - 21:41) were 2nd Team All-GCL. Madi Werner (17th - 22:09), Sophie Mock (19th - 22:14), and Trinity Raber (21st - 22:30) were 3rd Team All-GCL. Trinity finished her GCL cross country career with earning All-GCL Honors all 4 years!

The Carroll Varsity Men won the GCL Championship with a low score of 38 points to finish ahead of McNicholas (55). This was the 10th GCL title in a row for the Patriots, 14th in the last 15 years, and the 29th League Title in team history.  The Patriot men had an outstanding team race with all seven runners contributing to the team’s overall win, and six runners earning All-League Honors.  Carroll was led by senior Kevin Agnew who was the individual GCL champion for the 2nd year in a row with a time of 16:14. Agnew was named the GCL Runner of the Year for the 2nd year in a row and also earned 1st Team All-GCL honors for the 3rd time to finish out his GCL cross country career.

In addition to Agnew, the following Carroll runners earned All-League Honors: 1st Team GCL: Jack Agnew (5th - 16:56). 2nd Team GCL: Logan Arnold (8th -1 7:13) and Seth Tivakaran (9th -17:24). 3rd Team GCL: Nathan Schiffler (15 th - 17:52) and Hayden Everding (17th - 17:55).  Michael Duckro (29th - 18:47) rounded out the top seven for Carroll.

The Carroll JV Women claimed their first GCL title since 2009 after missing last year by 3 points.  They have finished 1st or 2nd 10 out of the 15 years in the GCL. The Patriots had a low score of 17 points to finish ahead of Badin (44). Sophomore Meredith Sanders led the Patriots by taking home the individual title in 22:53! The lady Patriots took home the top four spots and placed their top seven in the top 12.

The rest of the top 7 for Carroll were: Abby Noss (2nd - 23:03), Hanah Wagner (3rd - 23:07), Nora Sableski (4th - 23:25),
Rois Bultemeyer (7th - 24:14), Anna Murray (11th - 25:27), and Claire Holcomb (12th -25:28). The rest of the Carroll finishers in the JV race were Erin Murray (13 th -25:36), Grace Bete (14 th -25:39), Skylynn Pierce (15 th -25:55), Lily Wittman (25 th - 27:52), Josie Rose (26th - 28:12), Caroleigh Moylan (28th - 28:48), Miranda Schock (31st -2 9:12), and Cassie Lucas (36th - 31:03).

The Carroll JV Men won the GCL Title with a low score of 28 points ahead of 2nd place Badin (38). This was the third JV GCL Title in a row and 14th out of the last 15 years. Freshman Jared Sargent took home the individual runner-up spot in 18:36 and led Carroll which put seven guys in the top 14 in the JV race. The following Patriot men rounded out the top 7 for the JV team: Christian Anguiano (3rd - 19:05), Chris Ruetschle (4th - 19:27), Roman Gelhar (9th -20:09), Sam Reichman (10th - 20:12), David McLoughlin (11th -20:16), and Jacob
Burdick (14 th - 20:25). The rest of the Carroll finishers in the JV race were Matt Kemper (19th -20:30), Julian Corea (21st -20:38), Adam Cross (22nd - 20:40), Patrick Sableski (23rd - 20:41), Kai Hary (26th - 21:11), Trace Bauersfeld (30th -21:30), Lucas Hamilton (31st - 21:31), Josh Orlett (42nd - 22:04), Nathan Snizik (54th - 22:54),
Cameron Neidhard (57th - 22:59), Becket Nash (59th - 23:03), Wyatt Manos (60th - 23:14), Vincent Miller (62nd - 23:16), Alex Weed (64th - 23:47), and Noah Lehman (69th - 27:12).
