All boys interested in playing basketball this season need to come to a quick 5 minute meeting tomorrow after school in Coach Ramsey’s room (203).

 

Interested in learning more about cooking and baking?  Then come join the Carroll Cooking Club!  Our first meeting will be this Wednesday after school in room 114.  Come join us as we make Halloween Pizzas.  Please sign up on the sheet outside room 114.

 

If you need help in any subject or are just looking for a quiet place to work on homework, come to room 300 after school 

 

This is the last week we will be collecting coats for kids and socks for homeless shelters.  A party for the winning house is still up for grabs!!

 

As you heard today at the assembly, there is another Muse Machine performance on Thursday at 3 pm in the main gym.  All students are welcome to attend.  We will be seeing the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company perform their version of Twelfth Night.   The audience will be right in the middle of the action, taking them on a music-filled, whirlwind tour of the wacky town of Illyria, and the even wackier characters who inhabit it!   Come be entertained from 3 - 3:45 pm on Thursday! 

 

Academic team will have practice today in Room 298 after school.

 

Auditions will be held this Wednesday through Sunday for the Muse Machine high school musical: Addams Family which is performed at the Victoria Theatre in January.  Stop by and see Señorita in room 311 for an application if you are interested in auditioning or if you would like help with your audition preparation. Cast audition packets and production assistant applications are both available.

Any member of Media 4 Carroll who is helping with 8th grade days next must attend a meeting in Room 209 after school today.

Reminder to all Winter Athletes: A current physical must be on file in the Athletic Office.  Also, all athletic forms must be signed  in your Final Forms account.

 

Attention Swim Team:  If you are interested in joining the swim team and you are not currently receiving emails from the coach, please stop by the Athletic Office.  Swim season starts soon and we want to be sure you are included!


 

Thank you to our student body for filling out your Muse Machine information, we look forward to having a fun in school performance tomorrow. Muse Machine is an arts organization that brings the theatre to you and brings you to theatre and more.

The Bicycle club will have our first ride of the year this Sunday.  It will be an 18 mile ride from Beavercreek to Xenia.  Anyone interested in riding should stop by room 210 after school Tuesday.

It’s time for the first OHIO MATH LEAGUE Contest of the year! It will take place TOMORROW during family room in the Cafeteria. ALL STUDENTS are welcome to participate. Students should bring all of their belongings with them and most importantly a pencil and a calculator. If you participate in 5 out of the 6 contests this school year, you are eligible to win awards and be a part of the famous OML Club photo! You DON’T want to miss it! See your math teacher or Mrs. Emser if you have any questions.

 

SENIORS:  Only 3 weeks left to have your senior portraits taken at Easterling!  Give them a call and make an appointment if you haven’t already done so.  This Wednesday would be a great day!

 

The men's and women's cross-country teams had a fun and successful trip to Chicago this weekend to compete in the Wheeling Invitational on Saturday and watch some of the best runners in the world compete at the Chicago Marathon on Sunday.  The men's team finished 3rd in a tough field, just behind two Illinois state ranked division 1 teams.  Jack Agnew took the individual title, followed by Logan Arnold, Seth Tivakaran, Neil Tivakaran, Nathan Schiffler, Andrew Janson and Hayden Everding.  The women's team finished 7th out of a strong field of 15 led by Sophie Bruhn's 5th place finish, followed by Ruby Gross, Maggie Poor, Sarah Ochs, Abby Noss, Sydney O'Connor, and Claire Holcomb.

 

The cross-country teams compete for the GCL Championships this Saturday at Fenwick.  The Lady Patriots will be going for their 4th Championship in a row while the Carroll men will be battling for their 11th title in a row.  Races start at 9am.  Good luck Patriots!

The Math Club will be hosting a calculator decorating party this Thursday after school in Room 104.  Decorate your calculator with stickers and markers, and get your name engraved!  There will also be food and games.

Congratulations to the Men’s Golf team for qualifying for districts yesterday with an overall score of 333.  The team will move on to compete in the District Championship next Thursday. The team was led by Co-Medalist Shane Ochs who shot an even par 72.


 

Attention Lacrosse:  Stickwork Thursday’s resume tomorrow on the Eastmont field from 4:00 to 5:15 PM. New players can learn the basics of throwing & catching. Sticks are provided, if needed. Workouts are open to both men and women.

 

The Carroll Cross Country team hosts 5 teams tonight in a 2 mile race around the Carroll campus.  The races start and finish inside the stadium with the women's race at 5:45 and the men's race at 6:30.  We will have a short senior recognition between the two races. Come out and cheer on your friends and classmates!  Admission is free.

Today’s Spirit Week totals are as follows:  The sophomores once again have the highest percentage of participation with 93%, seniors are second place today with 91%, juniors are in third place today with 89% and freshmen were at 86%.  Total points so far for the week are:

Seniors: 8

Juniors: 7

Sophomores:  12

Freshmen:  4

 

Tomorrow’s theme is Movie Crew.  Find a friend….dress up as your favorite cinematic character or movie related person.  Points will again be on the line.  Remember, during Friday’s pep rally there will be games that will award more points toward the spirit stick.  

 

Attention Freshmen:  we are looking for 5-6 more freshmen to serve at the Homecoming Dance.  This is a great opportunity to see what a dance is like and help out.  Service hours are available.  We need you from 7:30 to 11:30 for set up, help during the dance and clean up afterwards.  See Mrs. Kilby in the main office if you are interested.

 

Saturday 9:00 am we will be decorating for the Homecoming Dance.  All members of the Decorating Committee as well as House Council, Junior Council and Sophomore Council should plan to attend but all are welcome.  The more help, the faster the process.  See Vivian Dao if you have any questions or need more details.

Attention all sophomores interested in applying or learning more about the 21-22 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar. HOBY is a leadership seminar typically held in May or June at a local college or university. There is a fee associated with the seminar, and you must be able to attend all days of the seminar. To pick up a HOBY application, please see or email Ms. Urbaniak in Guidance. The deadline to apply is by November 19th.

 

Spirit Week participation totals today were as follows:  Sophomores in first place (again) with 89% participation, Juniors were in second place today with 87% participation, Seniors are third with 82% and Freshmen were in fourth place with 75% participation.  Freshmen much better today!  Nice job everyone.

 

Tomorrow’s spirit day theme is All Sports Day.  Grab your sports gear and let’s see some great participation again tomorrow!

Attention blood donors- please report to the mobile bus between the school and the field at your appointment time.  You will need a picture ID with your birth date on it.  Be sure that you eat a snack and drink some water before your donation.  Also be sure that you have someone drive you home.  Thanks for saving lives today!!  

 

The Marching Patriots were awarded 1st place in class AAA this Saturday at the Lebanon Invitational.  They also won Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, and Best Color Guard in class AAA.

Tomorrow’s spirit week theme is generations….please follow the guidelines and dress as the appropriate age-range indicated on the flyers.  Freshmen are toddlers/kids, Sophomores are College students, Juniors are adults and Seniors are senior citizens.  

 

Homecoming Dance tickets are on sale all this week during lunch outside the cafeteria.  Tickets are $20 for a couple and $10 for a single.  If you are bringing someone from another school, please bring the completed form with you when purchasing tickets.  Forms are found in the main office.  

 

NHS members: a reminder that there is a meeting tomorrow morning at 7:40 in room 300.

Set Construction this week is Monday (tonight) and Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30.  Meet on stage.


 

The cross country team hosted the very successful Midwest Catholic Championships over the weekend and competed extremely well.  

The men's team won the Division 2 title for the second year in a row and for the first time in school history, they also won the overall team championship among all divisions.  The team placed 3 in the top 10 (Jack Agnew - 1st, Seth Tivakaran - 6th, Neil Tivakaran - 10th) and all five scoring runners in the top 20 (Logan Arnold - 12th, Nathan Schiffler - 19th).

The Lady Patriots brought home the runner-up award in Division 2 for the second year in a row, by placing three in the top 12 - Sophie Bruhn - 6th, Ruby Gross - 7th, and Maggie Poor - 12th.  Rounding out the scoring were Sarah Ochs and Abby Noss who both ran season best races to finish 25th and 36th, respectively.

Hola! The Carroll Spanish Club invites you to their first meeting of the school year TODAY. It will be held in the cafeteria after school from 3-4. Club membership costs $3 and the t-shirt costs $12. Everyone is welcome, and you don’t have to take a Spanish class to join. There will be prizes and fun. Nos vemos allí!

 

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for an appointment to donate blood next Monday!  See Mrs. Wright in room 111 as soon as possible to get on the schedule.  You must be at least 16 years old.  Don’t forget to bring your permission slips!  We need  many more of  you to make this blood drive a success.

Congrats to the cross country teams for their strong efforts at the Eaton Invitational on Saturday.  The women secured the runner-up trophy by placing 3 in the top 6.  Sophie Bruhn finished 2nd, Ruby Gross 3rd, and Maggie Poor 6th.  They were followed by Sarah Ochs, Abby Noss, Claire Holcomb and Tessa Zimmerman to round out the scoring.  The men's team took home the championship trophy in the 11 team Division 1 field.  They were led by individual champ Jack Agnew with Logan Arnold, Neil Tivakaran, Seth Tivakaran, Nathan Schiffler, Jared Sargent, Andrew Janson rounding out the team.  The Patriots also had the individual winner in the JV race, Chris Ruetchle.


 

The cross-country team is hosting the Midwest Catholic Championships on Saturday at Cedarville University.  Come out and cheer for the Patriots.  The varsity women race at 10:00 and the varsity men at 10:45 followed by the JV races.

 

Tutoring in Room 311 has been cancelled this afternoon.

 

The afternoon buses will pick up students at the regular time, 3:00pm on Thursday, September 23.  They are unable to pick up students for the early dismissal.

Congratulations to all the State Swim Meet participants - Julia Quinn, Luke Sullivan, and Hanna Lebamoff.  Julia placed in the 200 free and 500 free. Luke finished 5th in the 200 free and set a new Carroll High School record. He also finished 4th in the 100 back. Hanna, was State runner-up in the 100 back and State champion!!! in the 50 free. Once again, congratulations to all of our swimmers on a great season!

All other events (Sprinters, Jumpers, Hurdlers, and Throwers) will practice from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and should meet in the Aux Gym. If you can't make tomorrow’s practice, stop by the athletic office to pick up information so you can contact Coach Triola.

 

 

Women’s lacrosse evaluations and tryouts begin for new players tonight in the main gym from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. New players and the Red team should report 10 minutes earlier to check in. Blue team should check in at 8:20.

The previous records were held by Chadd Kiggins (Class of 2011) who was the D1 1600m Indoor State Champion and Mike Laughlin (Class of 2017) who was the D2 3200m Indoor and Outdoor State Champion. Women’s Lacrosse will hold workouts in the aux gym this Wednesday, February 10th. The 9th and 10th grades plus all new players will work out from 7:30 to 8:30. Juniors and Seniors will be from 8:30 to 9:30.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Congratulations to Carroll swimmers. On the boys side, Luke Sullivan advanced to the District Meet in the 200 freestyle and the 100 back.  The 200 and 400 freestyle relays of Mason Barber, Nathan Barber, Nick Miller, Ethan Dean, and Luke Sullivan also advanced. For the ladies at Sectionals, Julia Quinn advanced in the 200 and 500 freestyle, McKenna Clark in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Rois Bultemeyer in the 200 IM and the 100 breast, Maggie Ollier as an alternate in the 500 freestyle. Girls 200 and 500 style relays made up of Ollier, Bultemeyer, Clark, and Quinn Palso move on to Districts.  Congratulations to all.

Congratulations to the Indoor Track and Field team that competed at the Mount Vernon Indoor Meet. The boys team finished in 4th place out of 15 teams and the girls team finished in 6th place out of 17 teams. Kevin Agnew came in 1st place in the 3200m Run, Cole Ryan came in 2nd place in the Shot Put and Weight Throw, David Ferguson came in 2nd place in the High Jump, and the girls 4x800m Relay team of Grace Braun, Gabby Perkins, McKenna Lange, and Maggie Poor came in 2nd place. Special congratulations to Cole Ryan for breaking the Indoor School Record in the Shot Put and for Sophie Bruhn breaking the Indoor School Record in the 3200m Run.

There are solo parts for guys and ladies, and a fun chorus number where students get to be trolls and hags!  Take a chance and audition!  The musical is a lot of fun!

Carroll's Call for Talent 2021 is Thursday, January 28th at 7 pm.  We are looking for talented students to perform in front of a live audience.  The talent show auditions are open to all Carroll students.  Auditions are virtual this year.  Send in a video (less than 5 minutes) of the act that you would like to perform on stage to Mrs. Weitz at tweitz@carrollhs.org

Bus Transportation for Finals Week: 

 

Students taking morning exams:  

 

All buses will transport students TO school as usual Monday through Thursday.  The Xenia bus will transport students home after exams at 10:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  They CANNOT take you home on Thursday.  

 

Beavercreek and  Fairborn buses will NOT be able to transport you home after you finish exams.   

 

Students taking afternoon exams:   

 

You will NOT have transportation TO SCHOOL.  

 

The Fairborn and Xenia buses will pick up after exams on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday.  

 

Beavercreek buses will pick up students after exams on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only.  They CANNOT transport you HOME on Thursday.

Congratulations to the men's cross-country team for finishing 8th place at the State Meet on Saturday.  Kevin Agnew became a two-time All State athlete and the highest finisher in Carroll history by claiming 4th place overall.  Jack Agnew just missed All State honors (top 30) with a 32nd place finish.  Drew Maxwell, Logan Arnold, Seth Tivakaran, Hayden Everding and Nathan Schiffler rounded out the state team.  Congratulations on another outstanding cross-country season!

Congratulations to the Men's cross-country team for qualifying to the State Championships next Saturday in Columbus.  The team claimed the Regional Runner-up trophy.  Kevin Agnew repeated as the individual Regional Champion.  Jack Agnew joined him as an individual State qualifier by finishing 7th.  Drew Maxwell finished 20th, Logan Arnold in 22nd, and Seth Tivakaran in 30th to score for the Patriots.  Hayden Everding and Nathan Schiffler rounded out the varsity team.  Good luck to the team when they compete at the Fortress Obetz Sports Complex at noon on Saturday.

 

 

 

Congratulations also to the women's cross-country team who narrowly missed qualifying to State.  They were led by Grace Braun in 15th, just 3 places short of an individual state qualifier.  She was followed closely by Maggie Poor in 21st.  Sarah Ochs, Sophie Mock, Nataly Duenas-Diaz, Trinity Raber, and Madi Werner all raced tough for the Lady Patriots.  Congratulations on an outstanding season!

Congratulations to the cross country teams who swept the GCL Championships, winning all 4 men’s and women’s varsity and JV races. This was the 10th Championship in a row for the varsity men and 3rd in a row for the varsity women.   Earning All GCL honors for the men were Kevin Agnew, Jack Agnew, Logan Arnold, Seth Tivakaran, Nathan Schiffler, and Hayden Everding.  Earning All GCL honors for the women were Grace Braun, Maggie Poor, Sarah Ochs, Nataly Duenas-Diaz, Madi Werner, Sophie Mock, and Trinity Raber.

 

Also, congratulations to the men’s team for winning their 14th District Title this past Saturday.  Both men’s and women’s teams successfully advanced to the Regional Finals on Saturday in Troy.  The men race at noon and the women at 1:00.  Good luck Patriot runners!

This contest allows you to compete against other Carroll students and against other schools. The first ever Carroll Cross Country 2 Mile will be held on campus tomorrow against C-J, Moeller, and Mount Notre Dame.  The races start and finish inside the stadium.  All students are welcome to attend free of charge. The Patriot women race at 5:45 and the men at 6:15. Come out and cheer for your classmates and friends.

Mass choir is practicing after school today in the chapel.  We still need more singers for both masses if anyone is willing to sing. 

 

Harry Potter Club will have a meeting on Tuesday, October 6th starting at 3:00pm in room 214.  All muggles welcome!

 

Math Club will be held Tuesday, the 6th (that's tomorrow), at 3:10 at the tent.

 

Women’s Tennis will compete at the OHSAA Sectional Tennis Tournament tomorrow morning in Centerville and the Men’s Golf Team will compete tomorrow morning at the OHSAA Golf Sectional.  Good Luck to both teams.

 

Members of the Marching Band, please check your email immediately for updates regarding this week, including today’s rehearsal.

 

Congratulations to the cross-country teams for racing well against some of the strongest teams in the Midwest Meet of Champions last Saturday in Hilliard. The men's team took 5th out of 19 teams and the women placed 9th.  

 

The first ever Carroll 2 Mile will be held on campus this Wednesday against C-J, Moeller, and Mount Notre Dame.  The races start and finish inside the stadium.  All students are welcome to attend free of charge. The Patriot women race at 5:45 and the men at 6:15. Come out and cheer for your classmates and friends.

Do you like to sing?  Play an instrument?   Want to play an 'instrumental' role in leading your classmates in prayer and worship?   Then join Carroll's mass choir!  Practices for next week's freshmen and sophomore masses will be held this Thursday and again next Monday after school in the chapel.   Please contact Mr. Brun at dbrun@carrollhs.org if you'd like to be added to the Mass choir list. 

 

We are looking for a student to help on camera for the livestream of Friday’s football game against Fenwick.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Mr. Franz.  You will receive service hours if you volunteer!

 

National Honor Society will offer tutoring today after school from 3:15-4:15 in room 111.  Come get help in any subject!

Congratulations to the cross country teams for outstanding performances on Saturday at the Midwest Catholic Championships.  Seventeen teams from all over Ohio and as far as Illinois competed for the Championship.  The Lady Patriots ran strong to claim the Runner-up title and the Carroll men were team champions. Kevin Agnew repeated as individual champion.  Congratulations cross country runners!


 

Women’s Lacrosse will begin “Stickwork Thursday’s” this Thursday, October 1st on Eastmont Field.  Beginner’s will be from 4:00 to 4:30 PM. Sticks are provided for those that need one. Returning Players will be from 4:30 to 5:15 PM on Thursday. 

 

There will be a National Art Honor Society meeting today, immediately after school in room 309! 

 

Today’s winning scores for the spirit stick competition are:

Earning 4 points, the juniors and sophomores with a tie at 75% participation 

Earning 3 points, the seniors with 72% participation

Earning 2 points, the freshmen with 69% participation

 

Freshmen….big improvement today…

 

Thursday is the next count day for participation with Covid Heroes day!

 

Friday there will be two competitions between the classes at the pep rally which will earn points toward the spirit stick!

 

The totals after yesterday and today are: Juniors and Seniors tied with 7 points total after two days of competition. Sophomores have 6 points and Freshmen have 3 points.

 

Tomorrow is PJ Day but there will be NO count since we are online!

Attention Blood Donors- Please show up for your appointment on time, wear a mask, and bring a picture ID with your birthdate on it. Be sure you have someone to drive you home after your donation. If you do not have an appointment but still want to donate see Mrs. Wright after announcements.  We have 5 open spots.  


 

The Girls' Tennis Match against Badin today is canceled.  Tennis players, please stop by Coach Emser’s room before going home.

All returning girls basketball players, stop by room 213 for a quick 3 minute meeting with Coach G.

 

Open gym/conditioning for Girls Basketball has been cancelled today due to gym availability.  Next open gym is Wednesday at 6:00PM.  Any questions, see Coach G.

 

Fall Play practice is at 3 pm for the entire cast today - in the study hall.  This is a mandatory practice.

Earning 1 point with 57.1% the freshmen

Earning 2 points with 62.8% the sophomores

Earning 3 points with 67.8% the juniors

And the top score today of 4 points goes to the seniors with 70.9%

 

It’s always a pretty tough competition...remember tomorrow’s theme is 20th Century...so dress accordingly.  Remember the 20th Century is the 1900s...so 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s are all fair game but you could even throw it back to the 1920s if you are so inclined.  Looking forward to seeing all the great costumes tomorrow!  There will be a count out during the first period again so be here on time to get counted.  Every person counts!

 

Seniors if you are interested in winning a chance to attend the Homecoming game, please swing by the office this week and put your name in the basket by Wednesday at 3:00.  You may only put your name in once.  We will randomly draw names to attend the game.  If you are a football player, cheerleader, flag patrol member, or band member, you already get to attend so no need to put your name in for a ticket.  If your name is drawn, you may not give your ticket away.  All names will be listed at the gate and you must present your Carroll ID and voucher to get in.

Speaking of math clubs if you are interested in joining one, come to the tent this tuesday at 3:10 to learn about the club and talk about probabilities.

 

Any student who needs to pick up a yearbook for someone else can do so in Rm. 214 after dismissal today.

Congratulations to the men's and women's varsity cross country teams for their strong performances on Saturday at the Cedarville Invitational.  The Patriot men dominated the 11 team race and the Lady Patriots were runner-ups in the women's race.  Kevin Agnew was the individual champion, followed by Drew Maxwell, Jack Agnew, Logan Arnold, and Seth Tivakaran.  Grace Braun led the Patriots with Sarah Ochs, Sophie Mock, Maggie Poor, and Meredith Sanders rounding out the scoring.  The cross country teams will be hosting the Midwest Catholic Championships this Saturday evening at Cedarville University.

Congrats to both our men’s and women’s Cross Country teams who placed 3rd out of 11 teams at their meet on Saturday at Bellbrook. Kevin Agnew finished 1st setting a course record.  Kevin was followed  by Nathan Schiffler, Logan Arnold and Seth Tivakaran in 12th, 13th & 14th overall. Grace Braun finished 9th followed by Sarah Ochs in 19th, Meredith Sanders in 24th and Maddie Werner in 26th and Maggie Poor. Congrats to all of our runners!

Reminder: Students are not allowed to park on campus without the proper permit, which can be purchased in the main office.  Cars can and will be towed after an initial warning.
