The Archdiocese of Cincinnati requires all high schools to administer the High School Placement Test (HSPT). A make-up test will be offered at Carroll High School on July 19, 2017 for a $30.00 fee (this fee has been established by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and will be assessed to all students taking this test, regardless of location). The test is a mandatory exam that helps the Carroll High School Guidance Department ensure that each student is placed in the most appropriate courses for his/her academic skill level. Please note that failure to take the HSPT on this day may result in students being placed on the wait list for admission.
Students can take the HSPT at any Catholic high school in which s/he can enroll in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. All schools administer the HSPT at the same date, time, and cost. HSPT Make-up dates may differ from school-to-school. Selection of a testing site is not a condition of acceptance. Students have the option of sending the test results to three schools. A student wishing to apply to Carroll High School who is taking the test at another school must request on the day of testing that his/her scores be sent to the Admissions Office at Carroll High School as one of his/her top three choices. Parents desiring that a fourth school receive test scores can make arrangements through the Catholic Schools Office.
If you are unable or do not wish to register for the HSPT online, click here to download a copy of the HSPT Registration Form. If you are not registering online, please submit the completed form by mail or in person at Carroll High School. The $30.00 fee is due at the time of submission and can be paid by cash, check, or money order.
If your student receives special educational assistance, Carroll High School will provide extended time and reading accommodations when supporting documentation is provided with advance notice. Students with accommodation requirements will take the test in the library and may not necessarily be ready to be picked up noon.
Qualifying requirements are: Current IEP, ISP, 504 Plan, or a school accommodation plan with a letter of verification of a current Evaluation Team Report (ETR). Documents must be provided to Carroll High School by the student's school principal. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure the principal has submitted your child's documentation. All requests for accommodations and the supporting documentation must be received by Carroll High School by Friday, December 9th at 3:30 p.m.
No testing accommodations will be provided without documentation of eligibility provided by the students school principal by the due date.
Carroll High School will mail HSPT results to the student address on file beginning January 11, 2017.
Check-in begins at 8:20 a.m. on the day of testing. Testing begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Remember to bring two (2) No. 2 pencils. The use of calculators is prohibited during testing. Cell phones must be silenced and put away. Students will have a 15 minute break to use the restroom and have a small snack and water halfway through the test.
At the conclusion of the HSPT, please pick students up by 11:30 a.m. by the main entrance.
We look forward to seeing you and your child on Wednesday, July 19 as you take this important next step in Catholic education.
